Many of the city buildings and monuments are treasures and are some of the finest examples of baroque, gothic, romanesque, and modern architecture in the world.

From Gaudi's unique Sagrada Familia and other works, to the museums containing the works of Picasso, Miro, and Dali. Barcelona is a major center for 20th Century art. 
In the medieval area alongside the Ramblas is the Cathedral, Placa Real and ancient Roman ruins. Nearby is the Museo Picasso and the Palau Guell by Gaudi.

The narrow winding streets in this area offer a marvellous choice of atmospheric bars and excellent restaurants where you can enjoy a full Spanish lunch or enjoy a selection of tapas.

There is a large clean beach about twenty minutes walk or ten minutes by taxi. The beach is the front for the Vila Olimpica, the revitalized site for the 1992 games which has become an important leisure part of the city, with bars, nightclubs, and art galleries.

The main concert hall is the Palau de la Música Catalana - one of the most extravagant music venues in the world. The palace is located on Carrer Sant Francesc de Paula.

At night, the Ramblas and surrounding streets come alive with street life and performers of all kinds. For nightlovers there are clubs and discos catering to all tastes which go on until the early hours. An evening attraction not to be missed are the colored fountains on the Placa de Espana. This  completes our short virtual journey of this marvelous city, the home of Christopher Columbus.
